A complete bazi charts looks like the above.

Heavenly Stems

Why do we call “Heavenly Stems”? These Heavenly Stems needed to be term as Qi in order to be seen. Heavenly Stems are the Qi from the Heaven that govern our events, outcomes, successes and failure. Therefore, Heavenly Stems are what people displayed to the outside world - outlook, character, relationship, etc. Therefore, they are represented by the Five Elements or Wu Xing.

Earthly Branches

Earth represents mother earth or nature which is visible and recognizable. Therefore, in Bazi, they are represented by the 12 animal zodiacs. Earthly Branches are kept within oneself as they are feeling-oriented, unlike Heavenly Stems which are obvious. At certain point of life, the properties of Earthly Branches will be reveal.

The Hidden Stems
The hidden stems are hidden within the Earthly Branches. These hidden stems represent one’s hidden agenda, hidden talent, people who are close to you, innate characters, etc.
