Ever feel curious how a BaZi practitioner is able to identify the opportunities a person has or problems a person is facing? It is through identifying the 10 Gods in a BaZi chart and relate back to people, matter & place of the asking person. The assignment of 10 Gods is done systematically.
Let us use Jia (甲) Wood Day Master and the Output Star as an example.
The Output Star refers to the Fire element as Wood produces Fire. Fire element consists of Bing (丙) Fire (Yang Fire) and Ding (丁) Fire (Yin Fire). The Output Star consists of Hurting Officer and Eating God.
Here, the Day Master’s polarity is Yang. The Output element that shares the same polarity as the Jia Wood is the Bing Fire and opposite polarity to the Jia Wood is Ding Fire. The Hurting Officer always has the opposite polarity of the Day Master, the Eating God has the same polarity as the Day Master. Thus, Bing Fire is the Eating God and Ding Fire is the Hurting Officer.
Therefore, different polarities attract each other. Use this concept to assign each of the 10 Gods to the rest of the elements in the chart.
As for Yin Day Master, the concept is inverted to that of a Yang Day Master. Nevertheless, I have included an example below.
Let us see a Yi (乙) Wood Day Master and the Output Star as an example.
The Output Star of Yi (乙) Wood is the Fire element which consists of Bing (丙) Fire and Ding (丁) Fire.
Here, the Day Master’s polarity is Yin. The Output element that shares the same polarity as the Yi Wood Day Master is the Ding Fire and opposite polarity is the Bing Fire. The Hurting Officer always has the opposite polarity of the Day Master, the Eating God has the same polarity as the Day Master. Thus, Bing Fire is the Hurting Officer and Ding Fire is the Eating God.
Below is the assignment of 10 Gods to each Day Master.
